The Akufo-Addo-led administration began construction of 50 rural markets in 50 constituencies with an allocation of one million dollars per constituency across the country.

Projects executed by the Ministry of Special Development Initiatives are part of the Infrastructure for Poverty Eradication (IPEP) program and benefit from annual funding of one million dollars. US dollars per constituency.

It also comes with mechanized drilling, a storage facility and a sanitary facility designed with a biogas system.

In the Eastern Region, 12 of the 33 constituencies such as: Atiwa West, Ayensuano, Nsawam / Adoagyiri, Okere, Achiase, Manya Krobo Upper, Akuapem North, Akuampem South, FanteaKwa North, Lower Manya Krobo, Akyem – Swedru and Akyem – Abuakwa North benefit from this initiative.

Other regions, such as the Ashanti, benefit from projects in thirteen constituencies; Brong, six constituencies; Northern Region, 4 constituencies; Upper West has one; The center has four and the western region has ten.

Kabore Awudu Moro, head of the Ministry of Special Development Initiatives, who informed the media after visiting some markets in the East region, said the funding for these projects came from the allocation of 1 million dollars per constituency awarded in 2018.

He explained that "the construction of the markets did not start on the same date.For this reason, while in some cases the markets are completed and ready to be used, others are still under construction ".

He added that the percentage of work in most markets in the different regions visited would be between 35 and 40%.

These projects for selected ridings are also seen as a fulfillment of the government's promise to allocate funding to constituency development.
