Brigadier General Michael Akwasi Yeboah Agyapong, commander of the 37th Military Hospital, was dismissed after 32 years of service in the Ghana Armed Forces.

At a colorful ceremony at the hospital's main courtyard, which included a parade, Brig. General Agyapong pbaded the torch to his commander, Colonel Nii Adjah Obodai.

Commanders, retired generals and personnel of the armed forces, the Ghana Navy, the Ghana Air Force, among other security agencies, including the family and friends of the outgoing commander, witnessed the performance of the music by the Central Band of the Ghana Armed Forces.

During his 32 years in the GAF, Brig.-Gen. Agyapong was commander of the 37th Military Hospital from March 3, 2016 to November 10, 2017.

A service

The retired commander was appointed to the medical service of the Ghana Armed Forces in August 1987 as a lieutenant.

He has been appointed and participated in numerous peacekeeping operations, including Deputy Commander and Maxillofacial Surgeon, Ghanmed 1, United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL) and Commander, United Nations Coast Operations. Ivory (ONUCI), Ghanmed Nine, Boauke.

He has also served in the Ghana Armed Forces in a variety of capacities, including the Dental Division.

In his farewell speech, Brig. General Agyapong thanked the military high command, organizations and individuals who have contributed in various ways to improving the delivery of health care at the hospital.

"During my leadership, the hospital was faced with deteriorating infrastructure, obsolete and broken equipment, a severe labor shortage and declining finances, but with support from the military high command and staff, major renovation work had been carried out at the hospital. , " he said.

Brig. General Agyapong mentioned the transformation of the former Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) building into an ultramodern blood banking, behavioral therapy and wellness department, a day care center in hematology and a conference room for the medical division. "

Maternity, he said, has also been undergoing extensive renovation and is equipped with modern equipment.

"In order to improve the quality and skills of staff, various training programs were also organized and fully funded by the fund generated internally by the hospital's command," Brig. General Agyapong added.
