PIONEERING online services were introduced in six GP offices in Farnham with the aim of fighting diabetes.
Following a £ 2m grant from the NHS Test Bed Program, the North Hampshire and Farnham North Carolina Clinical Commissioning Group launched the online service BEATdiabetes.
The program offers three distinct programs tailored to the individual needs of each patient, contributing to their mental and physical well-being while fighting their diabetes.
Sarah Carrod, doctor and clinical leader of BEATdiabetes, said: "Many people with diabetes do not realize that they suffer from subconscious anxiety because of their condition.
"This means that they can not take into account the advice or changes needed to improve their diabetes."
When she was asked about the importance and need for a new diabetes treatment service, Sarah said, "Diabetes is a major problem – and it is increasing every year. There are currently 4.7 million people with diabetes and this number is increasing year by year. It costs the NHS 27 million pounds each day.
The service was recognized across the UK, especially by Premier Theresa May, who invited the BEATdiabetes team to Downing Street to thank them and thank them for their efforts.
Launched in northeastern Hampshire and Farnham, the six surgeries selected for the Farnham GP are:
* New Crondall surgery,
* Practice of Downing Street Group,
* Farnham Dene Medical Practice,
* Holly Tree Surgery,
* River Wey Medical Practice, and
* The Ferns medical office.
By working alongside their doctor, patients can begin programs before returning six months later to badess their progress and development.
Patients must first register online at BEATdiabetes.org.uk and attend an appointment at the BEATdiabetes clinic.
