Michigan public health officials have confirmed a new case of measles infection involving a patient who had just traveled abroad.
The Detroit Department of Health announced that a man had been admitted to the emergency room of the Michigan Children's Hospital on Tuesday after catching measles. The patient probably contracted the disease while traveling abroad, although the health agency did not specify where he had gone.
Officials advised visitors of emergency rooms at the Children's Hospital, who may have been exposed to the infectious disease, to be vaccinated immediately. This is to prevent the virus from potentially spreading to other people.
