PARIS, July 19 (Reuters) – French authorities deployed some 2,500 policemen on the streets of Paris on Friday to warn of clashes between football fans as Senegal faced Algeria in the final. of the Africa Cup of Nations in Cairo.
After Algeria's 2-1 win over Nigeria in the semi-final last Sunday, the police arrested 282 people across France.
The fans' joy in Lyon, in central France, has degenerated into clashes with riot police. Dozens of cars and garbage cans were burned during the night.
