Eddie Nketiah continues his pre-season momentum as Arsenal wins a stellar win over Fiorentina, Serie A team, in their second game of the International Champion's Cup. Charlotte, North Carolina.
After their 2-1 victory against Bayern Munich on Thursday, Unai Emery decided to form a younger team, with the goal hero Thursday, Nketiah, leading the Gunners group.
It's Nketiah who opened the scoring after 15 minutes. Sead Kolasinac bombarded the wing and hit a low center for Nketiah, who was waiting for him, who, after a few touches, slipped the ball into the opposite corner.
Both teams had opportunities during the remainder of the first period. Fiorentina was very tight a few times, but the match ended in one goal.
Nketiah added his second 20 minutes in the second half. This is the young substitute Joe Willock who scored the third goal of Arsenal. Lacazette made his way through the defense of Fiorentina and scored a pbad to Willock, who hit the ball in the top corner in the 89th minute to finish on a superb performance from Arsenal.
The score betrayed how equal the game was and both teams had the same number of chances. I Viola was not very lucky to find one of his nine shots in front of Emiliano Martinez and Bernd Leno respectively.
Fiorentina and Arsenal can rejoice in their performances, given their recent fortunes. Arsenal is fighting in the transfer market while its owner still refuses to support the club with the kind of rookies that rivals make, but the team has now won all three friendly matches.
I Viola, meanwhile, had been almost relegated to Serie A last season, but a new owner brings renewed optimism and valiantly faced Arsenal.
The Gunners will face Real Madrid in their next match of the International Champions Cup on Wednesday, while I Viola will face Portugal champion Benfica on Thursday.
