The contest for the parliamentary candidate of the National Democratic Congress (CND) started in the Volta region. Many aspirants have chosen forms to complete for the primaries.
Some 74 aspirants have retrieved forms to be elected to power on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ticket in 18 constituencies in the region.
Of these, 15 are women.
Competition to watch
There are interesting developments to watch in the primaries.
Afortime-Ziope MP, Charles Agbeve, is the only candidate to have chosen the form, making him the only unopposed candidate and likely to retain the seat in Parliament once he has crossed the line. primary.
This is because this constituency is a known safe seat for the NDC.

In the meantime, about four NDC deputies from the Volta region did not choose an application form to participate in the primaries.
They are Keta deputies, Richard Quashiegah; Anlo MP Clement Kofi Humado; Member of Parliament for Ketu South, Fiifi Fiavi Kwetey and Member of Parliament for Hohoe, Dr. Bernice Adiku Heloo.
The Functional Executive Committee (FEC), in consultation with the Secretary General, directed that the selection process for the parliamentary primaries in the Hohoe constituency be allowed to continue with immediate effect.
The directive follows a meeting between the FEC and officials from the Hohoe constituency last Friday.
The party's regional secretary, James Gunu, said the date has been postponed to Tuesday to allow eligible party members who wish to challenge the parliament primaries in the Hohoe constituency to choose nomination forms.
Gunu said the initial schedule for holding parliamentary primaries remained unchanged and party leaders in the region were committed to creating a level playing field for all aspirants for free, fair, credible and transparent primaries.
