How much money YouTube pays to creators and influencers: a million views

[ad_1]

Making money with YouTube can be a fickle proposition and depends on many factors, but getting a million views can bring thousands of dollars to a creator.

For YouTube-influenced Shelby Church, which has 1.2 million subscribers, her videos with about a million views have earned between $ 2,000 and $ 5,000, she told Business Insider. Church has 17 videos with over a million views. Her video titled "It's How Much YouTube Paid for My Million Watched Videos (Not Clickbait)", which itself has 2.7 million views, has generated over $ 7,000 in revenue in Google AdSense, said Church.

The breakdown

From branded campaigns to video ads, YouTube creators can earn money in a variety of ways. The YouTube Partner Program allows creators with at least 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 viewing hours over the past year to monetize their channels through ads, subscriptions and memberships to Chains.

Ads are filtered through Google's AdSense program. According to Petar Mandich, Talent Director at Addition, a talent management company focused on influencers and creators, the amount of these ads depends on the audience, watch times and time spent on a video.

Length

Creators can place a number of ads in a video based on its length. Videos longer than 10 minutes will yield more money as they can include more advertising clippings, Church said.

Watch the time

The viewer's viewing time helps to determine the performance of a video on YouTube, and the best-performing videos are more likely to be captured by the automated algorithm of YouTube, said Mandich.

The automated algorithm of YouTube affects the amount of a video in two ways. The algorithm can choose a video and suggest it, thus helping its overall reach, or signaling it and demonetizing it to contain inappropriate content, such as music protected by copyright, this which prevents it from earning money.

Demographic

The monetization of a YouTube video also depends on the part of the world that viewers view and their age. North America and the United Kingdom are the two most important geographic regions for video playback as more and more businesses are buying ads in these regions. If 80% of a video is viewed elsewhere than in these regions, a creator will not earn as much in AdSense revenue, said Mandich.

Church has a video on her channel that has been viewed more than 2 million times, but the video did not bring her as much money as she expected, as most of those views came from from India, she said.
