Speaker of Parliament, Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye
Parliament pbaded the Vigilance and Related Offenses Bill 2019 after a third reading.
The bill was tabled despite the NDC's disagreement with its minority in parliament who argued that a bipartisan commitment begun before the tabling of the bill was the way forward, but that despite the fact that the bill was pbaded.
The purpose of the bill is to dissolve party supporters' groups and to ban acts of vigilance in the country.
The phenomenon of political violence breaks the nascent democracy and the rule of law in Ghana.
