Mid-year budget review will focus more on revenue generation for project delivery

Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, revealed that the mid-year budget review would focus on raising revenue to fund outstanding government programs.

Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta will present the mid-year budget review on July 29.

Nkrumah said the budget will focus on increasing government revenues to carry out outstanding social and economic policies.

The minister revealed this information by addressing the media in Accra on Sunday, July 21st.

According to him, the purpose of the annual budget program was to finance and execute part of this program each year.

He added that revenue mobilization also remains a key element of the mid-term budget review.

"It is heartening to see the vigor with which Ghanaians responded to the president's call to be citizens and not spectators and therefore notes that the government must resolve some national issues diligently, "he said. Mr. Nkrumah. "We hope this same vigor will translate into our revenue mobilization efforts to ensure we fully fund and execute the outstanding programs.. "

He added that the mid-term review of the budget would give him an opportunity to re-examine the availability of revenue to execute the remaining programs.

The minister added that the government has made efforts to reduce its losses in preventable spending.

By reducing avoidable spending, Nkrumah believes the government will be able to boost revenues and create more budget space to fully fund and execute the outstanding programs.
