A member of the Nigerian Air Force has returned to his rightful owner a parcel worth 223,000 GHc (37,000 €: 41,500 USD) in cash, says the Air Force.
Bashir Umar is a member of the mobile anti-aircraft defense team deployed at Kano Airport in northern Nigeria for security tasks.
In a statement, the Air Force said that he was conducting a routine patrol with his colleagues when he found the package containing the money.
Instead of keeping it, the air force said the soldier found on the package a phone number that turned out to be the owner's contact of the money.

Umar will now be rewarded "To encourage other staff members of the service", says the air force. The way it will be rewarded is not clear.
This is not the first time that honest staff return valuables forgotten at Nigeria's airports.
In 2018, the Lagos airport authorities paid tribute to two security guards for rendering a "Sum of money and expensive objects", and in September 2018, a cleaner was recommended for his return "Lost precious" of a pbadenger.
