Floyd Mayweather became a special adviser to China's boxing team before the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.
The Chinese Boxing Federation has announced the appointment of the former five-division world champion in a message posted on its official account on the Chinese WeChat social media platform.
They said Mayweather was committed to "doing everything possible to use his influence and resources to help the Chinese boxing project achieve excellent results at the Tokyo Olympics".
Mayweather did not comment on the appointment, but no details were provided regarding his role.
This marks a fascinating transition for the legendary fighter, who retired from professional boxing with an undefeated 49-0 record in 2015.
He came back in 2017 to defeat UFC superstar, Conor McGregor, and also took part in an exhibition match against Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in December.
He has not appeared in a ring since, although he was badociated with an amazing rematch with Filipino legend Manny Pacquaio, whom he mentioned during a lucrative fight in 2015.
This weekend, he attended the impressive performance of Pacquaio against undefeated Keith Thurman.
"It does not surprise me, it's Manny Pacquiao," said Mayweather after the fight.
After his last victory, Pacquiao insisted that he would not fight again this year because of his commitments as a senator in his country.
On Mayweather, he said, "I have no idea, my plan this time is one fight at a time.
"He is retired and enjoying his retirement, he is inactive, he is ready to come back and fight with me, he will announce it at that time and we will be able to say yes."
It seems that Mayweather also has other commitments, advising the Chinese boxing team in an effort to improve its chances of winning four boxing medals at Rio 2016.
He won a bronze medal at the 1996 Olympics after a controversial semifinal loss. what his American team protested.
