Billie Eilish & Lil Nas X also gained multiple nominations each.
MTV announced the nominations for the 2019 Video Music Awards on Tuesday (July 23), and Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift top the list with 10 names each, including video of the year and song of the year.
Billie Eilish and Lil Nas X follow with nine and eight nominations, respectively. Both are up for best new artist, while the 17-year-old songstress is also entered for the artist of the year, one of the best artists of the year. Lil Nas X's smash "Old Town Road," meanwhile, is up for song of the year, best hip hop and video of the year.
K-pop and video for good. BTS and Halsey's Boy with Luv, BLACKPINK's Kill This Love, Monsta X and French Montana's Who's You Love, TOMORROW X TOGETHER's Cat & Dog, NCT 127's Regular and EXO's Tempo are up for best K-pop.
Video for good nominees include Halsey's "Nightmare," The Killers' "Land of the Free," Jamie N Commons and Skylar Gray's "Runaway Train" featuring Gallant, John Legend's "Preach," Lil Dicky's "Earth" and Swift's "You Need to Calm Down. "
Republic Records leads the labels with 24 nominations, thanks to Swift, Great and the Jonas Brothers, who earned four nominations.
Starting now through Aug. 15, fans can vote for their favorite artists across 14 categories here. Twitter and Facebook Messenger users can also slide into VMAs' DMs to cast an additional vote, and they can vote for VMAs for "artist of the year" within the MTV skill. During VMA Power Hour, 1-2 p.m. AND daily, votes are doubled on the VMA website.
The 2019 VMAs, hosted by Sebastian Maniscalco, will be available at the Prudential Center in New Jersey on Monday, Aug. 26, at 9 p.m. ET / PT on MTV. See the full list of nominations below.
