Callum Hudson-Odoi has signed a new outstanding contract with Chelsea, worth over £ 100,000 a week.
The young Blues submitted a transfer request just six months ago to try to force his transfer to Bayern Munich.
But Chelsea's new director and legend, Frank Lampard, has managed to persuade Hudson-Odoi to promise his future to his youth club in a highly motivated contract that could see him approaching 50 million pounds at the bank, while He will only be 23 years old.
Hudson-Odoi was convinced that he should follow the example of Jadon Sancho and go to the Bundesliga to continue his career, feeling deprived of opportunities in Chelsea under Maurizio Sarri.
But the midfielder was encouraged by the positive words of Lampard, who did not hide that he wanted Hudson-Odoi to stay.
For the moment, the career progression is in suspense, Hudson-Odoi remained in England, the rest of the team went to Japan on pre-season tour to continue his rehabilitation after an Achilles tendon injury. suffered in April.
The early prognosis is however encouraging and Chelsea thinks that he could be on the road to a quick return to action, potentially as early as September.
Remarkably, Hudson-Odoi made his debut in England before being entrusted to Sarri with a Premier League debut.
He then scored five goals in 24 appearances in all competitions for Chelsea last season, but the lack of confidence shown in the biggest matches put such a cloud on his long-term prospects at Stamford Bridge.
But as soon as he returned to Stamford Bridge as boss, Lampard soon sang the praises of Hudson-Odoi, describing him as a "huge player" at the club.
"I'm not going to say things that are going well, but with his talent, he can be at the center of this team, he can be at the center of England," added Lampard.
"He can show, right here in Chelsea, to the team where he went through the academy, that he will become a world-clbad player – because I really believe him."
Midfielders Mason Mount and Ruben Loftus-Cheek have also signed new deals since Lampard took over from Sarri.
But Chelsea's brokers believe that it is this turnaround by Hudson-Odoi that justifies their decision to attack a relatively inexperienced manager in Lampard.
