Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, with some members of the team
The Ministry of Information has made courtesy visits to some media houses as part of its activities with media stakeholders.
Today's appeals in Accra are part of a national exercise to engage with the Ghanaian media on an ongoing basis in efforts to address emerging issues in the sector.
The delegation was led by Sector Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah and Deputy Minister Pius Enam-Hadzide.
Mr. Nkrumah and his team visited the Yet group for the first time, which owns Peacefm and Utv as flagship brands. He also visited Media General; TV3 and 3fm operators. Other press houses should be visited as part of the calls.
The Minister congratulated the management and staff of the group despite defending the professionalism and using their platforms to engage all stakeholders in the national discourse.
He urged workers to continue to engage the government and provide comments on issues of national interest.
Mr. Nkrumah underscored the government's commitment to creating an enabling environment for free and responsible media, while contributing to strengthening the work of journalists through capacity building.
Speaking with the management and staff of Media General, Nkrumah called for greater collaboration between the media and all other stakeholders, including the government, to deepen democracy in the country.
