The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has been imposed as the ultimate winner of the 2019 sanitation challenge.

The Assembly received a £ 400,000 prize to implement more activities related to sanitation.

The Sanitation Challenge for Ghana is a UKAID funded project implemented by IMC worldwide and by IRC Ghana to create competition among all metropolitan, municipal and district bademblies to design and implement innovative strategies. to solve liquid waste problems in Ghana.

The project was opened to all MMDAs in 2015 and 128 submitted their proposal. Of the 128, 48 were selected to participate in the second stage.

However, only 21 responded and applied.

This was reduced to 17 and only 15 submitted evidence of the implementation of their strategies.

The 15 MMDAs were evaluated and the KMA became the final winner with a price of £ 400,000 to implement more sanitation related activities.

It is in the wake of the ongoing war against poor sanitation practices in the city, a partnership between Kumasi's office of The Multimedia Group Limited and KMA.

Two stations of the media group, Luv 99.5 FM and Nyira104.5 FM, have teamed up with the team recently set up by the general manager, Osei Assibey Antwi, responsible for the application of the code of sanitation, in order to enforce the statutes of the company. Assembly in the field of sanitation.
