Antoine Griezmann's move to Barcelona was widely expected long before his release clause was changed on 1 July.
Atletico Madrid has asked La Liga to prevent the transfer of French striker Antoine Griezmann to Barcelona in a dispute over transfer fees between the two clubs, according to the president of the Spanish league, Javier Tebas.
The champions of Spain, Barcelona, have announced the signing of Griezmann this month for 120 million euros ($ 133.75 million), but Atletico complained that the club Catalan had not paid enough to trigger the player's release clause.
The buyout clause had gone from 200 million euros to 120 million euros on July 1, but Atletico says that the announcement made by Griezmann on May 14 of his departure from the club is proof that An agreement was made between the player and Barcelona much earlier.
"(Atletico) has filed a complaint and has questioned the fact that we were to pbad Griezmann's license to Barcelona," Tebas told Spanish radio Onda Cero.

"It is possible to block the transfer of a player.La Liga will have to decide how to proceed."
Griezmann has already played in a friendly against his new club, a 2-1 defeat against Chelsea in Japan on Tuesday.
