Researchers at University of Alabama in Birmingham has begun to delve into early feeding with time restriction (eTRF) – a fasting approach that sees dinner time moving towards the afternoon.

The study participants were made up of 11 men and women who needed to lose weight, all aged between 20 and 45 and with a BMI between 25 and 35.

Participants tried two different meal synchronization strategies: eating three meals over a 12-hour period; and eat three meals spread over a six-hour period eTRF – the last starting with breakfast at 8 o'clock and ending with the last meal at 14 o'clock.

Interestingly, it has been shown that the eTRF approach suppresses the appetite of the participant rather than burning more calories, according to the report. published in the journal Obesity.

The nearly two-year study is the first to demonstrate the impact of meal planning strategies on our 24-hour energy metabolism.

"We suspect that a majority of people find meal planning strategies helpful for losing weight or maintaining their weight because they seem to naturally curb appetite, which could help people eat less" said the co-author of the study and badistant professor at the Department of Nutritional Sciences, Courtney M.
