An investigation exercise to allow traders who received their allocation papers to confirm the details of their stores in the newly built Kejetia market was held in Kumasi.
The program, jointly organized under the auspices of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) and Kumasi City Markets Limited, managers of the state-of-the-art facility, aimed to determine the location of the various stores, the names , numbers and sizes, as well as other details. .
Ms. Yvonne Naboo, Deputy Director at KMA, who represented the Mayor, Mr. Osei Assibey-Antwi, on the program, said that the exercise had been conducted with reference to the allocation documents provided to the respective operators.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), the deputy director said the program targeted resellers of hardware, rice, cooking oil and spices, groceries , cell phones, jewelry and fabrics.
The rest included cosmetics merchants, cookware, fruit, water and beverages, bags and sandals, electronic equipment, among others.
Ms. Naboo, regarding the tenancy agreement, indicated that the KMA had taken note of the concerns of the merchants and then forwarded them to the repair center managers.
The Assembly, she noted, is committed to providing merchants with the support they need to strengthen their relocation to the facility, which is the first phase of the Kejetia / Central Market redevelopment project. , with millions of dollars.
The first phase completed, executed by MM. Contracta Engenharia Limitada, a Brazilian construction company, comprises 8,420 rented commercial spaces, including 6,940 lockable shops and 1,420 counters.
Other facilities include 60 food courts and restaurants, a public transport terminal, fuel and gas storage tanks, waste sorting docks, sewage treatment plant, bank branches, substations. fire and police, as well as post offices, a nursery and a prayer room.
