The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly? (KMA) said the regional president of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of the Ashanti Kingdom, Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, aka President Wontumi, was not involved in the badignment of stores on the Kejetia market.
According to the badembly, influential members of the NDC in the region recently held a press conference in Kumasi, alleging that the president of the region, who is responsible for the nuclear power plant, allegedly interfered with the distribution of the stores. .
But a statement released Monday by the KMA's public relations department said President Wontumi had never been part of the process.
Price
The KMA also rejected claims that Kejetia market prices were 7,800 GHAC, 9,960 GHAC, 11,300 GHAC, 13,200 GHAC, 16,200 GHCC, 18,060 GHAC and 28,560 GHAC. GHAC.
"It should be noted that store prices have been determined on a per square meter basis and traders have the right to choose their favorite stores," he said.
According to the badembly, the registration of traders was carried out in 2015, which required verification and validation before the badignments were made.
The KMA also stated that there was no document or agreement signed between it and the displaced traders according to which the stores would be distributed to them permanently.
Transparency
To ensure the transparency of the validation and allocation of the stores, a committee has been set up with the representations of the various unions, government agencies and traditional authorities.
"Traders have raised questions about the five-year store renewal policy and KMA has conveyed the concerns of the Kumasi City Market Authority that it will be processed as soon as possible to take care of the process.
"It should also be noted that the KMA does not require any operator to borrow from Fidelity Bank with respect to the payment of the stores. It is a provision designed to help merchants who may not have enough resources to pay, "the statement said.
First batch
Meanwhile, the first group of beneficiaries of the Kejetia market was on the ground last Tuesday to check their stores.
They have a period of one month to acknowledge receipt of store acceptance.
