Enoch Kwasi Edzro, a 30-year-old farmer, appeared in court in Tarkwa on Wednesday for the alleged murder of his wife, Esther Gyasi.

His plea was not upheld and was remanded in custody for reappearance on Friday, July 26, 2019.

Continuing, Chief Inspector Faustina Celestina Anaman told the court presided over by Mr. Emmanuel Bart Plange Brew that the suspect was married to the deceased with three children and was residing at the Simpa crossroads in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem district.

She said a year ago that the suspect and his family had come from Sefwi Junase in the northwestern region to settle at the Simpa junction and start cocoa farming.

According to Inspector Anaman, on Monday, April 15, 2019, around 4:30 pm, the suspect accompanied by a roommate went to Simpa Township and returned around 8:30 pm.

The prosecution said that the deceased who had later prepared the super for Edzro was serving him and he invited the roommate to join him, after which he retired to bed.

Inspector Anaman testified at around 1am that the suspect was going to pick up a sharp cutlbad and inflicted wounds on his neck and forehead and that Esther had killed him instantly.

The prosecution said that the suspect after the act had cut off his penis to try to commit suicide, but when he began to bleed and feel sharp pains, he sent him to the hospital. one of his children waking roommates to help him get medical attention.

She said that when the roommate arrived, the suspect showed them his penis, claiming that it was his wife who had inflicted the injuries.

Inspector Anaman said the roommates had entered the suspect's room and found Esther lying in a pool of blood. They had informed the police in Nsuaem.

The prosecution said the suspect perceived the danger, but some neighbors found it later and took him to Dixcove Hospital for treatment.

After receiving this information, the police went to the scene of the murder, found the deceased and sent the body to the morgue.

Inspector Anaman told the court that the police were still investigating the case.
