Two fake members of the Vanguard Operation personnel arrested

According to Operation Vanguard, the government's anti-mining task force, looking for people who imitate its officers and dupe unsuspecting Ghanaians.

This follows the arrest of two people who ran as members of the working group in the Ashanti and Western regions.

The task force is responsible for ensuring that illegal mining activities do not occur in any part of the country.

Since then, some unscrupulous people have taken advantage of the team's mandate to run as members and exploit unsuspecting Ghanaians who claim to protect them from any attempt to arrest them for taking part in illegal mining activities.

Captain Andy Sowatey, public relations manager of the Vanguard operation, who told Citi News that the two people were arrested, was handed over to the police for investigation and possible prosecution.

"We are investigating two individuals whom we have posed as members of Operation Vanguard's staff. One of them was apprehended on July 11th. He was identified as Arnold Gyedu, 33, who was handed over to the Fomena police. [Ashanti Region] for investigations and Richard Nkrumah, 35, arrested in Bogoso Junction, Western Region. We are watching for them, we are doing our best to limit the number of people claiming to be doing business on behalf of Operation Vanguard. "

Meanwhile, the task force says its operations are now more active. Earlier in July, the team had arrested 85 illegal miners in the eastern region alone.

"It's not necessarily that the fight is not won. What is happening is that while we are trying to find these illegal miners, we are finding better ways to conduct our operations. "

"With the changes in the way we conduct our operations, we are now able to achieve better results in terms of arrests," said Captain Sowatey at a previous interview.
