Chinese authorities suspect the US parcel delivery company FedEx Corp. for violating the law by not sending goods from the Huawei technology company to their recipients, the official Xinhua news agency reported on Friday.

China's FedEx investigation comes after the United States has placed Huawei on a "list of entities" banning US-based providers from serving the company.

Investigators found that FedEx had detained more than 100 shipments related to Huawei, Xinhua reported.

Initially, FedEx attributed the missed shipments to an "operational error", but the authorities felt that the explanation "did not correspond to reality," Xinhua reported.

"In the midst of the investigation, other clues have been discovered that FedEx has been breaking laws and regulations," Xinhua reported.

FedEx has not responded to a request for comment sent by email.
