Oppong Boanuh James Oppong-Boanuh, Acting Inspector General of Police

James Oppong-Boanuh, acting Inspector General of Police (IGP), said he is open to public opinion for the development of policies to make the police service effective.

He says that his administration will continue the programs launched by his predecessor to ensure the highest professional standard, including capacity building, logistics, continuing education, motivation and the well-being of police officers.

The interim IGP said at its first meeting with more than 200 senior police officers working in police headquarters, the Accra and Tema regions, at the national headquarters.

"I will lead an open door policy where ideas from senior and junior ranks as well as the public will be carefully scrutinized to improve the maintenance of order to ensure the safety of people and property in the country, "said Mr. Oppong-Boanuh.

He also asked senior officers to show "a positive change of attitude in their interactions with their colleagues, lower ranks and members of the public".

While urging officers to undertake operations to eliminate crime in their operational jurisdictions, Oppong-Boanuh called on commanders to engage in the community to build public confidence in the police, an essential element for maintaining effective order.

The Interim IGP also instructed commanders to focus on operational strategies aimed at combating violent crime in the country, particularly with Accra and Tema.
