Russell Crowe seems totally unrecognizable on the set of the new film Unhinged

He was the muscular hunk who won millions of hearts as a fearless Gladiator.

But Russell Crowe does not seem to say anything, but he takes the time to film his latest film.

It's been 19 years since the Australian seduced the public around the world by playing the son of the emperor in the tube of Ridley Scott.

But he appears as a world away from the all-in-action fighter as he dons a wetsuit and pulls a cigarette while he films Unhinged.

His fans will see him more than ever because he may be playing his most controversial role so far, but not everything is as he seems.

Russell plays a tyrant whose only goal seems to be to make a woman's life a hell.

It all started after he pealed while they were driving – but the road rage incident escalated rapidly.

He pursues her and tries to make his life a misery.

Russell's previous project did not go too well.

The 55-year-old journalist told a behind-the-scenes documentary about his favorite football club, Leeds United – and the fans can not stand it.

Take Us Home follows the championship club while he's looking to regain his place in the Premier League.

It will air on the Amazon Prime video in August, but there is no indication that fans are asking for more.

The criticism was not aimed at the star, but rather at the fact that Leeds did not "go home" after being promoted.

"When we have bottled the promotion to the extreme? I can not wait to relive it," said a fan.

Another was not sold, adding, "I'd rather put out my eyes and melt them instead of redoing them."

Russell explained his love for the club in these terms: "When I was a kid, after practicing a sport on a Saturday morning, there was Match Of The Day on television.

"In the early 1970s, Leeds was a dominant team and they were featured every two weeks, so I chose them as a team."
