A CCTV video, widely circulated on social media, shows that Ozil and Kolašinac were approached by masked men who had parked next to their vehicle on a moped in North London.

Bosnian Kolašinac is seen jumping out of the car to confront the two men before driving them away.

The English Premier League club said in a statement that Ozil and Kolašinac were both "well" after the incident.

The London Metropolitan Police Service issued an incident report detailing an attempted robbery, although it did not reveal the names of the victims. It was widely reported that the attackers brandished knives, but the police did not want to comment on this detail.

The police statement confirmed that the driver and pbadenger escaped to a nearby restaurant.

The co-owner of the restaurant, Yasmin Tahsiner, told Sky News that potential thieves had largely damaged the Mercedes-Benz G Wagon 4×4 by throwing stones and bricks at the windows.

"Two people on a motorcycle came and tried to attack him [Ozil] and they immediately asked him, "Give me your watch," Tahsiner told Sky News.

"When they tried to attack him, he tried to get into the car and they tried to chase him with a motorcycle."

She continued, "We received a call from Sead [Kolašinac] and Miss Ozil's please call the police, we are being sued. " "
