Manchester United received a boost in its pursuit of Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic as talks over a new deal got bogged down, report reports
The Red Devils have been repeatedly badociated with a movement for the Croatian international in recent months and will have been encouraged by Thursday reports suggesting Barca are ready to let him go.
Rakitic is still two years old to sign his existing contract at Nou Camp and it is thought that he has already discussed a possible new agreement.
Like The sunRakitic recently said, "I spoke with the club and coach and we have the same idea for me to stay at Barca.
"We are open to everything, as always, but my intention is to stay. I still have two years of contract and I want to continue to have fun at Barca.
"That does not bother me. I know that football works like that and that makes me proud, because if other teams want me, it's because I'm doing very well. I'm calm."
However, the latest report from the Spanish point of sale AS provides United with tremendous momentum as they say the 31-year-old has failed to agree on the terms of a contract extension.
The arrival of Frenkie de Jong from Ajax means that Rakitic can now find it hard to find a good playing time, but Don Balon believe that the Catalan side will always ask up to 70 million euros for his signature.
Inter Milan have also been linked with a move for the old man from Seville, while Liverpool were also mentioned as potential contenders in May.
