The Comptroller General of Immigration (CGI), Mr. Kwame Asuah Takyi, paid tribute on Monday to five distinguished officers of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) for their dedication.
On July 8 of this year, four of the honored officers intercepted smuggled volumes of oil products through an unauthorized road at Akanu, along the Ghana-Togo border in the Volta region.
The other officer was honored to have ensured that the environment in and around the GIS National Headquarters in Accra is always clean.
The officers are the Akanu Sector Commander, Chief Superintendent Godson Attobrah; Reasons Officer, Deputy Superintendent Augustus Okyere; Inspector Samuel Ampofo; Deputy Inspector Kofi Asante and Deputy Agent of Immigration Control 1, Israel Gidisu.
Ceremony
At the ceremony, Mr. Takyi praised the officers for their courage, patriotism and dedication.
He said that the praise of the management of the service to the state should affect the base that was at the heart of the case.

In a statement issued by the department and signed by the director of public affairs, Michael Amoako-Atta, the CGI and the management acknowledged the efforts made by the officers, hence the honor of showing them all the appreciation of the service .

Officers received certificates, undisclosed amounts and a plaque each, the statement said.
Assistant Commissioner General and Commissioner of the Department of Border Management, Mr. Isaac Owusu Mensah, made the presentations.
Recognition
Judith Dzokoto-Lomoh, Deputy Comptroller General in charge of Finance and Administration, expresses the gratitude of the service to the officers for not only their friendship, but also their vigilance at the border.
She praised them for their dedication to duty and professionalism and encouraged them to do more by telling them, "More power for your elbow."
Ms. Dzokoto-Lomoh explained that men were honored to serve as an example to other officers, knowing that good deeds produced results and had to be imitated.
For his part, the Assistant Comptroller General for the Command and Operations Post, Mr. Laud Kwesi Affrifah, requested that the Border Patrol Unit of the service receive urgently resources, explaining that one unit Border patrols with sufficient resources to reduce the leakage of resources of the nation.
