Maguire is the priority target of Manchester United's central defender this summer.
Leicester wants a record transfer fee for a defender of £ 80 million for the 26-year-old.
United has not yet reached the asking price after refusing an offer of £ 70 million.
But Dawson, who played alongside Maguire in Hull, thinks an agreement will be reached and says that the English man is appreciated properly.
"You think it's going to happen now because of the numbers going around, you're going to wonder how Leicester can reverse the situation," Dawson told Sky Sports News.
"And one thing I would like to say is that you've seen him play in all pre-season friendlies.
"You've seen players trying to force the shots by refusing to play.
"It's something Harry did not do.
"He's one of those characters, he keeps his head down and works.
"When that happens, what I think, because of the type of numbers and how you can stop a player like Harry, what he did for them, to go play for a team like Manchester United, [it’s] a mbadive and mbadive football club.
"The figure that is announced is incredible, but rightly so, after the few years that he spent in Leicester and, of course, at the World Cup that he had the year last. "
Dawson said he knew the quality of Maguire when he arrived in Hull in 2014.
"From the first day of training, you could see what it's all about," he added.
"When he took out the ball, his cast was first clbad.
"He had to be patient in Hull and last year in the Premier League, where Hull City was relegated, he was outstanding.
"He was the main reason we had the opportunity to stay awake towards the end of the season with his way of playing.
"The confidence that he has nurtured in the team has begun with his cast."
