Strictly Come Dancing recruits BBC presenter Mike Bushell for the 2019 series

Mike Bushell may be known for his many television mistakes, but the BBC bosses hope he'll be better off when he signed with the sports presenter for the upcoming Strictly Come Dancing party.

The 53-year-old sports presenter, who has added his own entertainment to the BBC's live sports segments with his infamous gaffes, will follow in the footsteps of other BBC Breakfast stars.

Chris Hollins, 48, and Ore Oduba, 33, both won the Glitterball Trophy in their 2009 and 2016 seasons, setting the bar high for potential contender Mike.

While the jury has not yet determined if Mike's foxtrot would be better than his waltz, the star has already captured the hearts of spectators through his entertaining incidents.

In April 2016, not only did the father of three children get wet with water while two presenters were conducting a serious interview, but the sports presenter also split his pants with a lot of fun, to the fun of the breakfast facilitator Sally Nugent.

A few years later, Mike accidentally created another golden moment on television by falling into the pool by interviewing a team of British swimmers participating in the Commonwealth Games.

The sports animator has completely missed a step, diving directly into the bottom of the pool with his microphone included.

As swimmers Sarah Vasey, Adam Peaty and Ben Proud were hysterical, Bushell said, "I did not see the walk! Sorry about that.

"Well, that made you laugh, just look before entering a pool in the future.

"Everyone who looks here is literally down."

Mike also made headlines for appearing before one of the co-presenters, Carol Kirkwood, who presents the weather for the network.

Despite the fact that he accidentally tickled our funny bones with his comical mistakes, Strictly hopes that Mike's "charm" will amaze viewers.

A producer told The Sun: "The producers want to tap into the laughter that Mike can bring to the show and the fact that he is now one of the most familiar faces of BBC Breakfast.

"They are also aware that he might be the dark horse of the competition, not only has his predecessors triumphed over Strictly, but he's staying physically fit."

Mike could certainly give a chance to his competitors in the fitness department after admitting that he had participated in more than 250 sports as a reporter.

We can bet that swimming was probably one of them, ey Mike.
