L & # 39; EPISODE | "Love needs love today" (July 23, 2019)
THE PERFORMANCE | Porter's Pray Tell is the outrageous ball host in FX's revolutionary LGBTQ drama. He is the unofficial chamber mum of the entire balloon community. But Pray Tell needed support himself this week after a serious warning for his health, and Porter responded with a startling and impressive performance.
Pray Tell was rushed to the hospital after collapsing in the center of the balloon and was diagnosed with an adverse reaction to her AZT treatment. Porter was sensational as a thousand intense emotions crossed Pray Tell's face in his hospital bed: fear, anger, vulnerability and challenge. ("I'm tired of not knowing how fast or how fast I'm going to go," he said, teeth clenched.) After turning the closest to him, Pray Tell was visited, A Christmas Carol-style, by spectral visions of Candy, his dead boyfriend, Costas … and, what is heartbreaking, his regretted father-in-law, while we learned that Pray Tell had been badually badaulted in his childhood. It was a marathon of vivid emotions, but Porter shone a thousand lights, letting us see the broken heart that hides beneath the flamboyant bravado of Pray Tell.
If that was not enough, Porter also produced a pair of musical numbers: a silky rendition of "The man who stood out" in an extravagant fantasy sequence and a triumphant duet of "Love needs to be". "Love Today" by Stevie Wonder "With Blanca at the Cabaret of AIDS. pose has made us discover a shocking amount of new talent that has never been put forward – but as this week has proven once again, Porter's talent is absolutely transcendent.
HONORABLE MENTION | The very prolific Bridget Regan is deliciously perverse since five seasons now Jane the VirginThe Criminal Criminal Rose (aka Sin Rostro), and she had a juicy start this week, as Rose rose again to make Jane's life miserable. Biting Jane's cat like a Bond villain, Rose coldly threatened to kill poor Mateo if Jane did not reunite her with Luisa. Regan turned Rose's usual mustache into 11, equal to both terrifying and hilarious. Yet it is the song of the swan Rose, who plunged into a swan and fatally impaled. So it's good that Regan was able to give his best performance so far as Rose before saying goodbye forever. We know that Jane will not fail to see Rose prowling at every turn … but we'll do it.
HONORABLE MENTION | YoungerLiza, who spends the weekend in a micro-dosing retreat of LSD with flames of the past and present, is as crazy as expected, but Sutton Foster has managed to get comical timing (and dance moves). After settling in, Liza literally takes a "happy" pill and hallucinates quickly. The next day, when she imagines that Charles and Josh have changed their voices, Foster's face is a compelling mix of shock, horror and WTF as she goes out for help. With the nurse (another hallucination), Liza is tall enough to believe that she is an extraordinary dancer. Foster recounts her experience as an award-winning performer at Tony as Liza slips effortlessly down the floor, then shows Liza's drug foolishness when he reveals that she actually has a partner with a plant. Foster continues to bring new energy for six seasons and she does so by giving Liza a perfect dose of humor and charm.
HONORABLE MENTION | On this week Burden of truth At the end of the season, Peter Mooney took a moment of fraternity and turned it into an unforgettable moment. While his character Billy was watching his brother's or sister's sanity deteriorate, Mooney's face suddenly left his guilt over what he had to do for his brother to help him turn to fear and grief. "Shane, promise me you'll take the medicine," Billy pleaded, his eyes full of tears. When Shane began to share his illusions and call Billy his protector, Mooney's broken smile conveyed all there was to know about Billy's desperation to try to reconcile and be brave. In a series on how the family can break your heart, Mooney broke our heart by anxiously describing the anguish of a brother.
