Ozil reportedly fell out with Emery last season and the Spaniard is looking to replace the midfielder in this transfer
Arsenal looked for a heading towards another disappointing transfer window – that was until they accelerated into action over the past few days.
Despite reportedly only having a £ 40m war chest this summer, they have splashed out £ 27m on teenage defender William Saliba from Saint-Etienne, while they have also clinched a deal to bring Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos to the Emirates on a season-long loan.
And it looks set to get even better for Gunners fans, with Lille winger Nicolas Pepe reportedly set to join Unai Emery's men for a club-record £ 72million.
So, who else do the Gunners continue to be linked to and how can they look up against Newcastle on the first day of the season?
In the morning, talkSPORT.com has drawn up Arsenal's potential line-up for the start of the 2019/20 campaign.
Kieran Tierney
Arsenal has been strongly linked to a move for Celtic full-back Kieran Tierney as Emery looks to bolster his defensive options.
The International Scotland was on blistering form for the Hoops this season as they achieved a historic 'Treble Treble'
However, Arsenal has already had a £ 15 million bid lost by Parkhead chiefs, with the club reportedly looking for a bid in excess of £ 25m.
Celtic are open to the possibility of bringing in a defender or striker from the Emirates – but only if the price is right for Tierney.
The Europa League finalists are not only interested in the international Scotland though, with Serie A giants Napoli inquiring about his availability.
Recent reports in The Telegraph suggest Napoli are plotting to hijack the move for the 22-year-old in the coming days.
Dani Ceballos
Arsenal pulled off a huge blow by securing a season-long loan deal for Real Madrid starlet Dani Ceballos.
The 22-year-old midfielder, who has been capped six times by Spain, will spend the 2019/20 campaign at the Emirates.
Ceballos is highly regarded at the Bernabeu and made 23 LaLiga appearances throughout the 2018/19 season.
Zinedine Zidane goal was happy to sanction a temporary switch to Arsenal for the youngster, who helped Spain's Under-21s to Euro 2019 success this summer.
It is understood Arsenal do not have an option to make the deal permanent.
Pepe
Arsenal have reportedly reached an agreement with Lille to sign Nicolas Pepe for a club-record £ 72million.
The Ivory Coast winger, 24, could join the Gunners as early as this weekend after a breakthrough in between the two clubs.
The fee is set to be paid in installments Arsenal's summer budget, which is understood to be just £ 40million.
Pepe would become the club's fourth signing of the summer and seemingly signal an end to their pursuit of Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha.
The Eagles rejected a £ 40million bid from Arsenal for Zaha earlier this summer, with the Ivorian's price tag closer to £ 80million.
William Saliba
The Gunners pulled off the road by landing the youngster in a deal worth £ 27m.
Saliba, 18, turned down Arsenal's north London rivals Tottenham to join the club on a long-term contract.
It will not feature in our XI gold Emery's though it will return to Saint-Etienne on loan for the 2019/20 campaign.
