Ghana's ambassador to the United States travels to Pelosi before his historic trip

Before the historic trip to Ghana, US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi met with Ghana's Ambbadador to the United States Barfuor Adjei-Barwuah at his office in Washington on Thursday. , July 25th.

The President invited the Ambbadador of Ghana to review the key points of the next trip.

In his remarks, Ambbadador Adjei-Barwuah referred to the existing relations between Ghana and the United States and the need to strengthen friendship between the two countries.

"Ghana is very happy with this trip and for us it is a call to open a new page to ensure better relations," he said.

For her part, President Pelosi expressed her deep gratitude to the President and people of Ghana for commemorating 400 years of the arrival of the first enslaved Africans in Jamestown, Virginia.

"We travel a lot, but nothing compares to this one. We feel a special connection because of our history. The historic nature of the commemoration of the 400 years of the arrival of the first enslaved Africans makes this trip special. Really, this trip touches the heart, "said the President.

The tour will include a tour of some of the historic slave trade ports in Ghana, including Elmina and Cape Coast Dungeons, the slave heritage site at Assin Manso, which houses the remains of ancestors of slaves from United States, including a former US Navy officer, Samuel Carson among others.

A 40-member delegation will accompany the President on this trip, including members of the Congress Black Caucus.

The ambbadador was accompanied by Joseph Ngminebayihi, head of the consular department, Kofi Tonto, head of information and public relations, and Bernard Acquah, first secretary of political affairs.
