Nemanja Matic thinks that the lack of experience prevents Manchester United from fighting for the title, despite the quality of its young players.
The Serbian international has won the Premier League title most recently from those registered at Old Trafford and was part of the Chelsea teams that won the title in 2015 and 2017, before moving to the north the same year.
He supported his talented teammates to play the title on time, but asked the fans of the team patience as they gain the experience needed to face top honors.
"Quality and experience bring you the title," the 30-year-old told the media. "In this team, we have quality and no experience."
"We have five or six best players, but they are still young, like Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial. They have demonstrated their quality on the field, but they are too young to lead the team of course.
"Mason Greenwood, strong potential. United has a project and knows what they want from the players of the future. But you have to give them time because, at 17, you can not play the same way as you are 26 or 27 years old.
"Football always wants results, but fans have to be patient so they can improve. In the future, I'm sure these players will bring United back to their place. "
The Red Devils have engaged in a youth movement this summer, signing two 21-year-old couples to Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Daniel James, but manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, knows that they also need the # 39; steel.
Matic wore the armband in pre-season and some would like him to badume leadership as a captain next year.
The legendary club captain, Bryan Robson, believes that Matic could do the job and the player is flattered by the praise of the icon.
