Newcastle should compete with Crystal Palace in Everton's midfield selection race, James McCarthy, while the 28-year-old should leave the Toffees this summer.
Up to now, Palace has only signed one permanent signature during the summer transfer period, but would have launched an offer of 8 million pounds for McCarthy earlier this month, who wants to strengthen his small group.
However, according to the Express, Newcastle is interested in a move for McCarthy and seems ready to compete with Palace in the pursuit of the International Republic of Ireland.
McCarthy has only one year left for his current contract at Goodison Park, and Marco Silva would like to unload the midfielder this summer, given his recent injury problems.
The 28-year-old broke his leg in two places in January 2018, after being close to West Brom striker, Salomon Rondon, excluding him for the rest of the campaign and the majority of the 2018/19 season.
Entry and exits to Crystal Palace until this summer
Out: Aaron Wan-Bissaka
One of the biggest transfers in the Premier League thus far so far this summer has been the transfer of 50 million pounds of Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United, and Palace boss Roy Hodgson may want to sign a substitute before the start of the next season.
In: Jordan Ayew
Ayew is currently the only permanent signatory of Palace to date in the summer transfer window, realizing a transfer of £ 2.5 million following his loan period with the Eagles last season.
Out: Jason Puncheon
Puncheon left the club this summer at the end of his contract at the beginning of the month.
Out: Julian Speroni
Speroni's almost 15-year period with the club also ended this summer when his contract with Palace expired.
