It's hard to believe, but Shark Week has been a TV show for over 30 years. The annual programming block on the Discovery Channel is one of the most enduring events on television. And this continues to be a heavyweight of audiences, with 34.9 million viewers in 2018.
This year's Shark Week will begin on Sunday, July 28th and continue until Sunday, August 4th. Shark fans will be able to listen to over 20 hours of original programming, including a brand new movie about a terrifying shark encounter in real life.
"Hunted: blood in the water" is released on July 31
This year, Discovery brings something new to Shark Week. The network will release its first scripted feature film, Shark Week.
Capsized: blood in the water stars Josh Duhamel and tells the true story of a meeting of sharks in 1982, when a yacht bound for Florida capsized and his crew was drifting into the Atlantic, where he became the prey of hungry sharks.
The film also stars Tyler Blackburn, Rebekah Graf, Beau Garrett and Josh Close. It will be broadcast on Wednesday, July 31 at 9am / 8c.

Also on the bridge is Isle of Jaws: Brotherhood of Blood, which features a team of shark explorers who have returned for the third time to an isolated island off the Australian coast to investigate a pair of shark brothers, and Andrew Mayne: ghost diver, who follows the illusionist and the inventor as he dons a unique shark costume to try to overcome the feeling of a great white.
