Flipboard keeps getting better.
These Chinese censors are walking again … and this time, the popular Flipboard application is the victim.
Censorship is a bit cumbersome, blocking access to Twitter and Facebook in China and around the world.
Mike McCue, CEO of Flipboard, announced Sunday China's decision on Twitter. "Suppose we have unconsciously dug a hole in their wall that has now been closed … Presumably if we do not block Facebook and Twitter ourselves in China." According to Twitter, China's decision to suspend access to Google Reader, Instagram and Flickr, along with Twitter and Facebook, also reported Monday.
Flipboard does not seem to be the main target of those behind the Great Firewall of China, a complex set of technologies aimed at transforming the Internet information pipe into a manageable net. Instead, censors seem to want to bypbad the firewall using a VPN connection. Facebook president Mark Zuckerberg recently said the number of visits to the social networking site in China has more than doubled, despite the blocking of the service since 2009.
