A parliamentary candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Asawase constituency in the Ashanti region who was unable to apply Masawudu Mubarick stated that he had not yet been allowed to submit his application forms.

Last week, Masawudu Mubarick's team petitioned the NDC's National Executive Board to protest the decision of the party's regional and national leaders to decline.

Some media reports suggested that Masawudu Mubarick had been authorized by the party's Executive Committee of the Party (FEC) to come forward for verification.

However, Mr Mubarick, who has appeared before a committee about grading problems, told Citi News reports suggest that the verification process has been suspended for the Asawase constituency.

He said the committee's findings regarding his team's petition would inform his next line of action.

"I am waiting for the report of the committee but, in the meantime, the secretary general told me at this meeting that the process had been suspended. The audit was suspended, "he said.

Mr. Mubarick's application forms were rejected in constituencies and at the regional level due to ongoing disciplinary action against him.

Mr. Mubarick faced a similar challenge when he chose his application forms to run in the riding.

He alleged that there had been sabotage in the process, suggesting the existence of a conspiracy to allow the incumbent Muntaka Mubarak to challenge without opposition.

Preliminary examinations are under way in other constituencies of the country for the NDC parliamentary primaries.
