Prince William, worried, asked how a known torturer was within walking distance of his three young children.

It is said that Wills and Kate are "worried", he has become so close.

Benjamin, who was caged for a brutal attack, later boasted about seeing George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis in the yard.

"POTENTIALLY DEATH MONITORING"

He even told them how good the future king was.

The violent criminal was sentenced to seven years in prison in 2008 for participating in a torture plot where an innocent man was throwing boiling water in the back.

But he was allowed to deliver furniture to Kensington Palace on July 14 as part of his chauffeur role for an independent company.

He said he was greeted by George, seven, Charlotte, four, and Louis, a man, who were in the yard with their nanny Maria Teresa Borrallo.

CHILD COOLING

One source said, "This is the kind of potentially life-threatening security surveillance that simply can not be allowed.

"Darren is a violent criminal who has been imprisoned for the most brutal type of torture.

"It's disheartening because he's been praising to his friends how close he was to our future king and the other kids in Cambridge.

"His friends were shocked that he was able to enter the palace and close to the kingship given his past."

On Sunday night, a senior royal official said the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were "worried" about approaching their children without extra protection.

They said, "The Duke has been informed and obviously is interested in what has happened.

"He strongly believes that criminals deserve a second chance once they have served their sentences, but he fears that current security policies are not strict enough.

"It is very important to know who enters the palace."

Staff members would be shocked by the lack of detailed background checks by the Royal Family's large security operation.

TIP-OFF SUN PROBE

Buckingham Palace immediately launched a high-level investigation after alerting it.

A palace badistant said Sunday night: "As soon as it was brought to our attention, an urgent security review was launched to verify that current systems and procedures are appropriate.

"In the expectation of results, the risk badessment for people entering the territory will be refined."

Benjamin, from Harlesden, in northwestern London, was part of a group of four ski masks masking the innocent Anthony Powell. They tied him up and gagged him after jumping on him while he was laying rubbish bins at his home in Wolverhampton. The men put a knife to the victim's throat and stabbed her in the leg while they were chatting with a BMW Z4.

The Wolverhampton Supreme Court was informed that he "knew nothing about the vehicle" but "despite his protests, they poured boiling water on his back".

Peter Recorde told them, "This man was tortured at home. When you finished, you left him tied up and, as he struggled, he left a trail of blood around the house.

It is believed that Benjamin was unemployed before landing the post of deliveryman. This is the second time that Royal Security is scary.

Earlier this month, we explained how a 22-year-old man climbed the fence of Buckingham Palace at 2 am, while the queen slept just a few steps away.

A spokeswoman for Buckingham Palace said Sunday night: "All deliveries in the royal estates are subject to strict guidelines.

"This only involves the admission of known items, an identity check at the entrance and a permanent escort of the driver and the vehicle. All deliveries are made under the supervision of police officers and security personnel. "
