Wa, July 28, GNA – There was a rush for
seat of the Nadowli-Kaleo constituency after the longest service of the nation
MP Alban Sumanaa Kingsford Bagbin decided to resign.
Mr. Bagbin, who is currently a member of
Parliament (Member of Parliament) of the Nadowli-Kaleo constituency and Second Vice-President of the
Parliament, is one of the other members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)
parliamentarians who have decided to resign to allow others the opportunity to
also occupy their seats.
Seven candidates including Dr. Camynta
Baezie, Mr. Mumuni Awudu Adams, Mr. John Salifu Dumbah, Dr. Vitalis Mwinyuri
Suuron, Mr. Martin Lucas Nyune Kombanpuo, Mr. Romanus Zingleu Kuong Gyang and Mr.
Sumah Mwinkaara Anthony has filed and has been reviewed and successfully approved by
challenge the seat.
Meanwhile, in the absence of Mr. Bagbin, the
The new Patriotic Party (NPP) has intensified its efforts to seize the seat of the
NDC in the 2020 elections and this would be the first time since 1992.
But two of the NDC candidates to know; Dr.
Camynta and Mr. Kombanpuo who spoke with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) during the examination
grounds rejected the NPP's efforts, claiming that each of the candidates is
anchored in the constituency and also able to maintain the seat
for the NDC.
Meanwhile, Dr. Francis Bawaana Dakura,
Member of Parliament in Jirapa Constituency faces great difficulties
competition from five other opponents, including Mr. Bright Babanye Salia, Mr. Richard
Kuunaah, Dr. Dapilah Reagan Kaaiemabong, Mr. Vitus Gbang and the former Jirapa
District Director General (DCE), Mr. Cletus Seidu Dapilah.
For the constituency of Sissala East, five
candidates, including Ms. Jemilatu Ibrahim, Dr. Sumaila Assuru, Issah Mohammed
Bataglia, Bukari Bayorbor and Adamu Yakubu seek green light
resuming the siege that was won by the new Patriotic Party (NPP) for the first time
time in 2016.

in 2016 for the first time.
In the riding of Lambussie, a practicing deputy,
Edward Kaale-Ewola Dery faces two opponents including his former DCE
Bom Kofi Dy-yaka and Marcellinus Kandy Welber.
Wa East can only be two candidates, but
it's the riding that will witness a fierce fight between the old
MP Ameen Salifu and Dr. Godfred Seidu Jasaw, former National Campaign Assistant
Coordinator of the candidate John Dramani Mahama in the NDC 2020 presidential election
Primary.
In addition, Mr. Joseph Yieleh Chiereh who is
looking to run the NDC in Wa West riding as a deputy for the fifth time is
Peter Lanchene Toobu, a retired police officer.
In the constituency of Lawra, Mr. Bede A.
Ziedeng who lost the seat at NPP Anthony Karbo due to a misunderstanding
between him and the outgoing MP, Mr. Sampson Abu, is now being challenged by
Mr. Daniel Tigbee.
Dr. Sebastian Ngmenenso Sandaare, titular
The member for Daffiama-Bussie-Issa presented himself without opposition, while Dr. Richard Kuuire, who
Dr. Benjamin Kumbuor of the NDC but lost the Nandom seat to MP NDP Ambrose Dery
in 2016 is also happening without opposition.
