Jurgen Klopp Responds to Harvey Elliott's Appointment of Liverpool Premier League Record Holder

Jurgen Klopp praised Harvey Elliott, his new Liverpool representative, and supported the Premier League record holder to become a leading player at Anfield.

Liverpool confirmed Sunday that they signed a contract with Fulham to sign Elliott, 16.

The winger went into history last season by becoming the youngest player to figure in the Premier League.

Elliott, who has played three senior matches with the Cottagers, becomes Liverpool's second signing for a grim summer.

After Napoli's friendly defeat against Napoli, Klopp said: "I could say so many positive things about the boy.

"We signed it, he came here, he decided on us and could have gone everywhere but he wanted to be part of Liverpool.

"The stories with the boy start early and he is already the youngest player in the Premier League and has broken many records with his talent.

"Now he's here, so let's work with him, he needs playing time, we'll see where he is, but he's an excellent footballer, so we really wanted to sign him."

Liverpool have only recruited two players this summer, after a season in which he won the Champions League and finished second in the Premier League.

Discussing Liverpool's transfer plans last week, Klopp told ECHO, "We are still looking for it, but it will not be the biggest transfer window for CFL.

"It will be just a transfer window. We will see what we are doing and if we have not done anything by the end, it will be for different reasons.

"It's to use this team. In the transfer window, you need to build a team with which you think you want to go in the season. But I already have this team.

"If we can involve someone who further improves the situation, we'll see. But otherwise, this team is already there. And again, we will have to find solutions at different times. "
