Unai Emery congratulated Sami Khedira after the Juventus midfielder was seen during his friendly match of preparation for Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium against Lyon on Sunday.

The 32-year-old midfielder was limited to just 20 appearances in all competitions last season due to injury and appears to have been deemed surplus to the needs of Juventus' new manager, Maurizio Sarri.

Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot arrived earlier this summer thanks to free transfers from Arsenal and PSG, to reinforce the Juventus midfielder's already formidable badpit, which included Miralem Pjanic and Blaise Matuidi.

Khedira has played no part in Juve's pre-season tour of Asia, is under contract for 12 more months and is linked to groups such as Arsenal, Fiorentina and Valencia.

Commenting on the presence of the former Real Madrid star on Sunday, Emery said: "Khedira is a very good player, but this is the first time his name is mentioned."

Emery already has plenty of options in the midfield as Lucas Torreira and Granit Xhaka will remain in North London, despite speculation about their future earlier this summer.

Dani Cabellos, meanwhile, arrived earlier this week on a loan agreement from Real Madrid with a season. It is likely that he fulfills the role left vacant by Ramsey.

Arsenal would be increasingly confident in signing a contract with Celtic half-back Kirean Tierney, although he struggled to match the SPL champions' 25-million-pound valorization. that they should announce the signing of Nicolas Pepe's club record in Lille this week.
