Everton has denied making a second offer for Crystal Palace striker Wilfried Zaha involving players with more money.

We understand that once the initial bid was rejected, Everton was ready to separate from forward Cenk Tosun and midfielder James McCarthy.

But Everton says that talking about such an offer is premature, while confirming that they have made a first offer for the player.

A statement from the club said: "The Everton football club categorically denies that an offer was submitted to Crystal Palace for Wilfried Zaha.

"Everton and Crystal Palace have very good relationships.

"An offer was made over the weekend and was rejected. The two clubs agreed that it was the end of the problem."

At the start, Arsenal seemed to be the favorite to sign Zaha – but they are now about to reach an agreement with Lille winger Nicolas Pepe.

Zaha preferred a move that would keep him in London, but he was supposed to want to move to the northwest.

We understand that Everton might have been willing to send Cenk Tosun to Crystal Palace under an agreement with Wilfried Zaha.

The 26-year-old has scored 53 goals in 323 games in two periods at Selhurst Park, but it's thought he'd like to prove himself at the highest level.

The Ivorian international has informed the Palace of his desire to leave Selhurst Park after his return from the African Cup of Nations.

However, South Londoners value Zaha at £ 80m and are under no financial pressure to sell, having already seen Aaron Wan-Bissaka join Manchester United for £ 50m this summer.
