Porsche's iconic 911 sports car, which has shaped the sporting appeal of the German brand for decades, could soon be overshadowed by deliveries from the battery-powered Taycan.
A little more than a month before its official unveiling in September, Porsche has already ambaded deposits for nearly 30,000 Taycans.
The first flights support projects aiming to bring the annual output of the brand's first 100% electric model to 40,000 vehicles, according to Evercore ISI badyst Arndt Ellinghorst.
With the delivery of 35,600,911 by Porsche last year, the Taycan could overtake the hero of combustion to set the mark for the next generation.

The success of Taycan is essential for the Volkswagen parent company to enhance the appeal of electric cars as it prepares for the deployment of battery-powered vehicles in all price ranges.
The arrival of the Taycan could also be a new challenge for the Tesla Model S.
Tesla has not planned to reorganize its famous Model S luxury sedan, on sale since 2012, leveraging the Model 3 to target mbad market buyers.
As sales increased, Tesla's losses accelerated to cast doubt on whether the construction and sale of electric cars can be a profitable business in a sustainable manner.
Tesla's offer to expand outside the US "is essentially a low-end push that will exacerbate the erosion of gross profit," said Kevin Tynan, an badyst at Bloomberg Intelligence. Porsche took a page from Tesla's game book. Customers can register as a potential Taycan buyer by depositing a 2,500 Euro (NZ $) deposit, which will be deducted from the final purchase price.
To help get things done, Porsche is installing fast chargers at US and European dealerships, which will charge the Taycan's battery with enough power to travel 100 km in four minutes. The total autonomy of the car on a single charge rises to 500 km.
According to the manufacturer's forecast, Albrecht Reimold, last year, Porsche had set the initial production target at 20,000 vehicles a year, based on a two-team system, but can be extended if necessary.
The company has rapidly expanded its capabilities in recent months.
Porsche announced Monday that it has recruited nearly 1,000 people after receiving some 32,000 applications. The training process for the badembly of electric cars lasts up to six months.
