The first woman Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, congratulated Ghana on respect for democracy and the rule of law.
Nancy Pelosi, who heads a group of Democrats invited by the Ghanaian Parliament, has instructed Ghana to show the way forward to strengthen democracy on the continent.
She also commended Ghana for its role in peacekeeping activities around the world.
"We congratulate you on the strength of Ghana as an exporter of security and peacekeeping forces from this continent … We met the military and we congratulated Ghana for its role in global security, "she said.
The President of the United States has sung the political and cultural virtues of Ghana.
"We salute Ghana and we thank you for sending your distinguished Ambbadador to Washington DC," she said.

The President of the United States is due to address Parliament on Wednesday, but before her speech, she held a closed session with President Akufo-Addo at Jubilee House on Tuesday.
For his part, the president said his government would continue to respect the human rights of Ghanaians.
A dinner will be held during President Pelosi's hours of honor after arriving on Sunday at the Parliament's Jubilee Lounge, where she will respond to a toast.
