Azim Premji Retires Today as Wipro's Executive Chairman

Azim Premji will retire on Tuesday as Executive Chairman and CEO of Wipro. The son of Azim Premji, Rishad Premji, will badume the functions of executive chairman of the company. Wipro also announced that its CEO, Abidali Z Neemuchwala, would be its new CEO. Premji is known for its contribution to the computer industry as well as for its philanthropic activities. Premji founded the Azim Premji Foundation in 2000, which trains teachers in public schools. Premji will take his time for philanthropic activities after retirement.
