Juventus midfielder Sami Khedira will be forced to take a pay cut to seal his transfer to Arsenal, according to reports reported in Italy.
Khedira was far from the Serie A champions this summer after an injury that allowed him only 17 appearances in all competitions last season.
Arrivals Aaron Ramsey and Adrien Rabiot have given rise to suggestions that Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri would allow the former Real Madrid man to leave the club this summer.
Aged 32, who played no role in the recent Asian tour of the Italian giants, he would have become a potential target for Arsenal.
And according to La Gazetta dello Sport (via Sportsmole), the Premier League club has offered Khedira a two-year contract to transfer to North London.
However, the Italian publication reports that the midfielder would be forced to reduce his current salary to carry out the transfer, Arsenal not wishing to propose that a contract worth £ 70,000 per week.
Khedira would earn about £ 30,000 a week less than her current salary at Juventus.
The German midfielder has intensified his suggestions for the possibility of joining Arsenal after being seen at the Emirates Stadium during Sunday's preliminary match against Lyon.
However, questioned about Khedira's presence, Gunners boss Unai Emery seemed to deny the possibility of an agreement.
"Khedira is a very good player, but it's the first time I hear about his name," said the Spanish (via Metro).
After concluding deals with Dani Ceballos and William Saliba last week, Emery is expected to make Ivorian striker Nicolas Pepe the newest member of his squad.
The Lille striker is expected to finalize his transfer this week after a record amount of £ 72 million has been agreed with the Ligue 1 club.
