A former Deputy Minister of Energy and Oil, John Abdulai Jinapor, called on the government to permanently put an end to the concession agreement with the Power Distribution Service (PDS).

This comes after the government announced in a statement that the deal with PDS, which is now responsible for distributing electricity in Ghana, had been suspended.

"The Government of Ghana, through the Ministry of Finance and the Ghana Electricity Corporation (ECG) Ltd., has suspended the concession agreement with Power Distribution Services (PDS). Ghana Limited with immediate effect.

"This decision follows the detection of fundamental and substantive breaches of the PDS's obligation to provide payment guarantees for the transaction that were discovered during subsequent checks," said a government Tuesday in a statement. declaration.

"I think the time has come for us to terminate the contract completely and hand over to ECG. Let's bring together a competent, non-partisan board to appoint a chief executive and tell them key performance indicators if they do not respect them, so we can lay off.
