Parliament divided womenSample of parliamentarians

Parliament is about to engage Ghanaians after succumbing to the pressure to abandon the construction project of a $ 200 million parliamentary chamber.

In a statement signed by the acting director of parliamentary service, Kate Addo, stating that, as part of efforts to strengthen links with citizens, Parliament, in collaboration with STAR-Ghana, will organize an interactive forum to strengthen relations between its stakeholders.

The forum, whose theme is "Expanding Citizen Engagement in Participatory Democracy: The Role of Parliament", should provide citizens with an opportunity to interact with House leaders in order to to enable them to better understand the role and performance of Parliament.

The statement indicates that the forum scheduled for August 1, 2019 is part of ongoing efforts to further dialogue with citizens in order to avoid any misconception about the institution of Parliament.

The forum is to be held at 2:00 pm inside Judge D.F. Auditorium Annan, Job 600 building.

Parliament has recently been in the media for what citizens viewed as a "misplaced priority" announcement of its intention to build a new $ 200 million chamber.

Ghanaians jumped into social media with the #DropThatChamber campaign, forcing the House to suspend its plan.
