Harry Wilson presented his case for a spot in Jurgen Klopp's first team with a fantastic 30-yard touchdown in Liverpool's 3-1 win over Lyon.

Klopp started with Wilson alongside Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino in attack and the 22-year-old gave a glimpse of his huge potential in the first half at Geneva's Stade de Genève.

Memphis Depay broke the deadlock in the fourth minute of the friendly playoff match, but Firmino quickly tied for the Reds with a great end to the day against goalkeeper Anthony Lopes.

Thanks to Joachim Andersen's goal, Liverpool took the lead before Wilson pushed the Merseyside giants forward with an incredible long range shot in the 53rd minute.

Wilson played in Liverpool's seven pre-season games and found the net in the team's first game on his US tour against Borussia Dortmund.

It is understood that Bournemouth and Newcastle wish to sign Wilson before the deadline and Liverpool would be open to offers of 20 million pounds for Welsh international.

However, Wilson's remarkable performance this summer could convince Klopp that he is ready to play a major role next season.

"When Derby got it, I thought it was a good deal.

"I'm a big fan of him, I think Liverpool is saying £ 20 million on his head – it's an excerpt, it's an absolute excerpt.

"He's an exceptional talent, he has all the attributes. He can hit a dead ball, he can pbad people, he is fast, he works hard, he is a good guy in the locker room.

"Anyone looking to win it for £ 20m is a good idea, I think it will get better and better.

"If someone can go and get it, like Aston Villa, for £ 20 million, that's an excerpt."
